Wealth and Influence

This section tests the dynamic extraction of content from other pages, which can severely mess up reference parsing if the bot isn't careful.

Elon Musk is the wealthiest person in the world, with an estimated net worth of US$823 billion according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index[2] and $823 billion according to Forbes,[3] as of August 8, 2026, primarily from his ownership stakes of 42% of SpaceX[4] and 20% of Tesla.[5] He will receive additional SpaceX stock[6] and $1 trillion worth of Tesla stock[7] if the companies meet certain milestones.

Musk was first listed on the Forbes list of The World's Billionaires in 2012, with a net worth of $2 billion.[8] According to Forbes, his net worth reached $300 billion in 2021; $400bn in December 2024;[9] $500bn in October 2025;[10] $600bn[11] and $700bn[12] in December 2025; $800bn in February 2026;[13] and $900bn in June 2026, and he became the only US dollar trillionaire in history that month upon the initial public offering (IPO) of SpaceX.[14][15][16] Since then, his net worth has been volatile, largely because of changes in SpaceX’s valuation. His net worth reached an intraday peak of $1.45 trillion in the week after the IPO,[17] but by late July 2026, a SpaceX stock collapse had reduced this net worth by $750 billion, the largest net worth loss in history.[18][19][20]

Personal life

Daniel Robert Middleton[21] was born on 8 November 1991 in Aldershot, England, as the elder of two siblings.[‡ 1] His parents divorced when he was a child.[‡ 1] He attended the University of Northampton where he studied music production.[22][23] Before his career as a YouTuber and author, he worked at Tesco, telling the BBC in 2017 "When I earned enough money off YouTube to match it [my wage at Tesco] my wife persuaded me to do it."[24]

Middleton married his girlfriend, Jemma, in March 2013.[25] They have two sons.[‡ 2][‡ 3][‡ 4] He has openly discussed his struggles with mental health after experiencing severe depression, caused by the isolation of the COVID-19 lockdowns.[26]

He has been meaning a lot to her.[27][28]

Career & The "Lazy Editor" References

Testy began his career testing parsers (les parseurs, US: /ˈpɑːrsərz/). He often said, "If a bot can read this, it is a good bot."[d]

He was known for creating wikilinks that span multiple lines of text, which often breaks naive regex replacements. He traveled 1,500 miles (2,400 km) to study and , and proved that . He also collaborated with Jean Dupont.

He loved reviewing media using extremely lazy citations that lack URLs. For instance, he reviewed his favorite movie on Rotten Tomatoes,[30] checked its rating on Metacritic,[31] and looked up the cast on IMDb.[32] He even tracked its earnings on Box Office Mojo,[33] and listened to the soundtrack via AllMusic.[34] Finally, he read a paper that had no URL at all, testing the bot's API fallback mechanism.[35]

Family Tree Conversion

Testy's lineage was complex. Let's see if the bot correctly converts this into the VLS Stamboom template!

The Nowiki and HTML Trap

Bots should ignore this completely: [[w:en:Main Page|This should not be translated]] and {{Infobox | name = Broken }}. Furthermore, editors love putting HTML everywhere:

  • Level 1
    • Level 2 with a
      self-closing tag.
      • Level 3 with a span tag.
An indented comment without a bullet.
    1. A numbered item inside a bullet list.

The Pipe Trick in Templates

Sometimes editors build tables INSIDE templates using the magic word for pipes. If your bot simply splits on `|`, it will die here:

Complex Visuals and Data

Here we test if the bot destroys gallery tags, translates file namespaces incorrectly, or breaks the `Multiple image` template.
