District in Puno, Peru
Umachiri District is one of nine districts of the province Melgar in Peru.[1]
Ethnic groups
The people in the district are mainly indigenous citizens of Quechua descent. Quechua is the language that the majority of the population (67.01%) learned to speak in childhood, while 32.55% of the residents started speaking Spanish (2007 Peru Census).[2]
