Talk:Compulsory Rotating Medical Internship
Some issuesIssues: 1) Is CRRI a standard short-form? I will remove it unless somebody feels otherwise. Prashanthns (talk) 16:01, 29 April 2008 (UTC) 2) In comparison, in India, the Internship or the Housemanship or the House Surgeoncy or the House Officership - all are considered to be the same. Besides, there is no cadre of a House Physician in India. This is because, in India, the Doctor who is undergoing higher specialty training following Internship is called a "Post-Graduate student" (i.e., a Medicine PG student or a Surgery PG student).
Prashanthns (talk) 16:11, 29 April 2008 (UTC) My reply1) 'CRRI' is the most commonly known short form rather than the obscure terms as Houseman or House Surgeon (which is more popular in India than the former). 2) The notations used in common parlance in India consider that all the above titles denote the same. There is no medical counterpart, called House Physician, to the seemingly Surgical term: House Surgeon (one is still a General Physician and not a 'Surgeon'). In countries other than India, a Doctor undergoing specialty training is called a Resident Doctor, or simply a resident or a House Officer but in India he is considered a student and hence called a PG student. In short, in India it is a period of 'learning' (hence called a student and given a stipend), but in other countries it is a period of 'training' (hence called a Resident doctor and given a salary). I hope this is clear, as far as I know to explain. But the facts are very accurate. Now things are changing as I have explained in the article
