The largest lake in Nepal is Rara Lake, also known as Mahendra Daha, in Karnali Province. It lies at about 3200m above sea level, and has a total area of 10.4 square kilometres (4.0 sq mi).^[1][2][3][4]

Rara Lake in Karnali Province is the deepest lake of Nepal,^{[citation needed]} having a depth of 167 m.

Tilicho Lake in Gandaki Province is the highest lake of Nepal, at 4919 m above mean sea level.

In September 2007, Phoksundo Lake has been designated a Ramsar site.^[5]
