KeepSolid Inc. is a Ukrainian‑founded technology company that develops cybersecurity and productivity softwares.[1][2] It was established in 2013 by Vasyl Ivanov and Oleg Bocharnikov in Odesa, Ukraine, and later incorporated in the United States with headquarters in New York City.[3] KeepSolid is the creator of VPN Unlimited, a virtual private network (VPN) service launched in 2013.

History

KeepSolid was founded in August 2013 as Simplex Solutions by Vasyl Ivanov and Oleg Bocharnikov in Odesa.[4] Vasyl, who had earlier developed mobile productivity apps, started the new company to create his own software products.[4] The first release was an iPhone utility called Photo Transfer WiFi, enabling wireless photo sharing before widespread cloud storage.[4]

Later, in 2013, the founders shifted focus to online privacy tools and began developing a VPN service. In October 2013, they launched VPN Unlimited as a mobile app with two initial server locations (Los Angeles and Amsterdam).[3] Unlike most VPNs of the period, which charged users by bandwidth or speed limits, VPN Unlimited introduced a flat‑rate “unlimited” subscription.[4] Within a year of launch, the service had over one million users.[4]

In 2015, the company was renamed as KeepSolid.[4] KeepSolid also relocated its headquarters to New York while maintaining research and development operations in Ukraine.[3]

During the Russian invasion of Ukraine, KeepSolid was among the VPN providers that took steps to assist Ukraine’s cyber‑defence. Its services began filtering Russian state‑media websites, and the firm pledged up to 30 percent of its revenue to support the Ukrainian army.[5] It also offered free annual subscriptions of VPN Unlimited to Ukrainian citizens.[5]

Operations

KeepSolid operates as a private company with offices in both New York and Ukraine. Its Ukrainian branch remains in Odesa.[3]

Previously, KeepSolid operated an internal IT‑training program in Ukraine to recruit local students and graduates.[3]

Products

  • VPN Unlimited remains KeepSolid’s flagship product. It is a subscription‑based VPN that provides encrypted internet connections for privacy, security and content access.
  • MonoDefense: A bundle of security apps, including the full-featured versions of VPN Unlimited, Passwarden, DNS Firewall, and SmartDNS.[6]
  • Passwarden: A password manager to keep passwords and other personal information in one location, locked with a master password.[7]
  • SmartDNS: A service that gives access to regionally blocked websites and prevents speed drops while browsing the web.[8]
  • DNS Firewall: A DNS-level web-filtering application that intercepts domain-name requests to block access to known malware and phishing sites.[9][10]
  • Authenticator: A free two-factor-authentication app for Android and iOS that generates time-based one-time passwords (TOTP)s.[11][12]
  • KSCoin: A utility token launched by KeepSolid in May 2025 to serve as an internal medium of exchange and rewards mechanism across its privacy-and-security services.[13][14][non-primary source needed]
