He held the Child Family Professorship at UC Davis from 1995 to 2000 and served as chair of the computer science department from 1997 to 2000.[5]
Career
Mukherjee has been active in professional service, serving as general co-chair of the IEEE/OSA Optical Fiber Communications (OFC) Conference in 2011, technical program co-chair of OFC in 2009, and technical program chair of IEEE INFOCOM in 1996.[citation needed]
He is editor of the Springer book series on Optical Networks and has served on the editorial boards of several journals, including IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking and IEEE Network.[6] He serves on the advisory board of IEEE Communications Surveys & Tutorials.[7] He has also guest-edited special issues for journals such as Proceedings of the IEEE, IEEE/OSA Journal of Lightwave Technology, IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, and IEEE Communications.[8]
He was the first elected chair of the IEEE Communications Society Optical Networking Technical Committee.[citation needed] He was a founding board member (2002–2007) of IPLocks, Inc., a Silicon Valley startup company later acquired by Fortinet.[9][8] Mukherjee also served on the board of directors (2015–2018) of Optella, Inc., an optical components startup acquired by Cosemi, Inc.[10] He has also advised technology companies, including Teknovus (acquired by Broadcom).
He is the founder and president of Ennetix, Inc., a UC Davis–incubated startup developing AI-based network performance analytics and management software.[11]
