"12 to 12" is a song by American singer-songwriter Sombr. Released on July 24, 2025, through Warner Records and Sombr's own imprint SMB, it was written solely by Sombr, and co-produced by him and Tony Berg. It serves as the fourth single from his debut studio album I Barely Know Her (2025).[5]

The song mixes '80s-style synth-pop and new wave with hints of '70s funk and blues, highlighted by Sombr's vocals that shift between falsetto and rough growls. It marked Sombr's third entry on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number 60, and his third top-ten on the Irish Singles Chart. The song also reached the top 20 in Australia, Austria, Lebanon, Lithuania, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. Additionally, it has been nominated for Song of Summer at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards.[6]

Composition

"12 to 12" was compared to the work of Tame Impala, embracing the "ripple effect of nostalgia-driven '80s-inspired synth-pop and new wave".[citation needed] The track was described as walking the line between "repurposed funk with fuzzy blues licks" and hints of "bongo hits". Sombr's "shifting" vocals, alternating between a "lustful falsetto" and a "hungry, distorted growl"[4] throughout the track were said to "ooze suave and mischievousness".[7] Sombr sings to a love interest, uncertain whether his feelings are being reciprocated. As the song progresses, he begins to question whether pursuing the relationship was worth it, ultimately doubting his own self-worth.[1]

"12 to 12" is composed in the key of B major with a time signature of 4
4
, and has a tempo of 124 beats per minute.[8]

Commercial performance

"12 to 12" became Sombr's fourth and third entries on the Billboard Global 200 and Hot 100, respectively. It debuted at number 130 on the Global 200 for the week ending August 9, 2025, rising to number 91 the following week.[9][10] On the Hot 100, it debuted at number 95, after spending one week on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 at number two,[11][12] but dropped out of the chart the next week. Following the release of its parent album, "12 to 12" re-entered the Hot 100 at a new peak of number 60 and soared 60 spots from number 97 to its current peak at number 37.[13][14] In the same week, the song entered the top ten of the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart at number seven.[15] Meanwhile, in Canada, it debuted at number 80 and later peaked at number 51 in its fifth week.[16]

Internationally, "12 to 12" has reached number seven in Ireland, marking his third top-ten entry in the nation, and entered the top 20 in Australia,[17] Lebanon,[18] Lithuania,[19] New Zealand,[20] Norway,[21] Sweden,[22] and the United Kingdom.[23]

Music video

The accompanying music video, directed by Gus Black, was released on July 24, 2025, and features appearances by American singer Addison Rae.[24] The video opens with Sombr hosting a late-night show before being invited on as a guest, interviewing himself as the host. The camera then pans to Rae, seated in the audience, who begins to dance in a room that shifts between being empty and crowded. Additional scenes show Sombr floating unconscious in a pool.[25]
