Τοποθεσία της χερσονήσου Σαντόνγκ

Η Χερσόνησος Σαντόνγκ είναι χερσόνησος στην επαρχία Σαντόνγκ της ανατολικής Κίνας, μεταξύ της θάλασσας Μποχάι προς τα βόρεια και της Κίτρινης Θάλασσας στα νότια.[1]

Γεωγραφία

Τα ύδατα που συνορεύουν με την χερσόνησο είναι ο κόλπος Λαϊτσόου προς τα βορειοδυτικά, ο οποίος ανοίγεται στην θάλασσα Μποχάι προς τα βόρεια, η οποία με τη σειρά της περνά μέσα από το στενό Μποχάι προς τα βορειοανατολικά στην Κίτρινη Θάλασσα στα ανατολικά και νότια.

Το έδαφος της χερσονήσου αποτελείται από τις τρεις πόλεις νομαρχιακού επιπέδου της επαρχίας Σαντόνγκ: Τσινγκτάο στα νοτιοδυτικά, Γιαντάι στο κέντρο και στο βορρά και Ουεϊχάι στο ανατολικό άκρο.

Ιστορία

Οι παραχωρήσεις του κόλπου Κιαουτσόου ήταν μια παραχώρηση προς τη Γερμανική Αυτοκρατορία από το 1898 έως το 1914, στην περιοχή γύρω από το κόλπο Κιαουτσόου, όπου το χωριό του Τσινγκντάο (Τσινγκτάο) εξελίχθηκε σε σημαντικό λιμάνι. Ως συνέπεια του Πρώτου Παγκοσμίου Πολέμου, η Γερμανία έχασε το Τσινγκτάο και τη σφαίρα επιρροής της στο Σαντόνγκ. Η Συνθήκη των Βερσαλλιών μετέφερε τις γερμανικές παραχωρήσεις στο Σαντόνγκ στην Αυτοκρατορία της Ιαπωνίας και δεν επεστράφησαν στη Κίνα. Ως αποτέλεσμα υπήρξε λαϊκή δυσαρέσκεια, οδηγώντας στο κίνημα της 4ης Μαΐου. Το Σαντόνγκ επεστράφη στη Κίνα το 1922, μετά από διαμεσολάβηση των Ηνωμένων Πολιτειών κατά τη διάρκεια της Ναυτικής Διάσκεψης της Ουάσινγκτον. Το Ουεϊχάι ακολούθησε το 1930 αλλά η Ιαπωνία διατήρησε την οικονομική επιρροή στην περιοχή.
