Γεωγραφία της Πολωνίας

Η Πολωνία είναι χώρα της Κεντρικής Ευρώπης[1]. Έχει έκταση 312.679 τ.χλμ. και το μεγαλύτερο μέρος της χώρας έχει εύκρατο κλίμα. Βρίσκεται στη Βόρεια Ευρωπαϊκή Πεδιάδα. Η Πολωνία είναι σε μεγάλο βαθμό πεδινή. Η πολωνική πεδιάδα εκτείνεται από τις ακτές της Βαλτικής Θάλασσας στο βορρά μέχρι τα Καρπάθια Όρη στα νότια. Ωστόσο, εντός του πολωνικού τμήματος της μεγάλης Ευρωπαϊκής πεδιάδας υπάρχουν πολλοί, μικροί γεωγραφικοί σχηματισμοί.

Οι πολωνικές ακτές της Βαλτικής έχουν δύο φυσικά λιμάνια: ένα μεγάλο στην περιοχή Γκντανσκ-Γκντύνιας, και ένα μικρότερο κοντά στο Στσέτσιν στο βορειοδυτικό άκρο της χώρας. Η βορειοανατολική περιοχή, επίσης γνωστή ως Επαρχία των Λιμνών της Μαζουρίας, έχει πάνω από 2.000 λίμνες, έχει πυκνά δάση και είναι αραιοκατοικημένη. Νότια της "επαρχίας των λιμνών" βρίσκεται μια μεγάλη πεδιάδα που εκτείνεται μέχρι τα Σουδητικά όρη στα σύνορα με τη Τσεχία και τη Σλοβακία (στα νοτιοδυτικά) και τα Καρπάθια στα σύνορα με την Τσεχία, τη Σλοβακία και την Ουκρανία (στα νοτιοανατολικά). Η κεντρική πεδιάδα σχηματίστηκε από την διάβρωση των παγετώνων στην εποχή των παγετώνων κατά τη γεωλογική εποχή του Πλειστόκαινου. Η Πολωνία συνορεύει με τη Γερμανία στα δυτικά, με την Τσεχία και τη Σλοβακία στα νότια, με την Ουκρανία και τη Λευκορωσία προς τα ανατολικά, ενώ στα βορειοανατολικά συνορεύει με τη Λιθουανία και τον ρωσικό θύλακα του Καλίνινγκραντ.
