Ράλι Ιντιανάπολις 500

Ο αγώνας Ιντιανάπολις 500 (Indianapolis 500, γνωστός ως αγώνας 500 μιλίων Indianapolis 500-Mile Race,[1][2] ή απλώς Indy 500), διεξάγεται κάθε χρόνο στην Αμερική, στην πίστα της Ιντιανάπολις και την περίοδο του Σαββατοκύριακου της ημέρας μνήμης των Πεσόντων, στην πολιτεία Ιντιάνα. Αποτελεί τον σημαντικότερο αγώνα στους αμερικανικούς αγώνες μονοθέσιων (Indycar).

Ο πρώτος αγώνας έληξε στις 30 Μαΐου 1911, με πρώτο νικητή τον Ρέι Χαρούν στον αγώνα 500 μιλίων.[3] Από το 1950 έως το 1960, το Ιντιανάπολις 500, ήταν μέρος του παγκόσμιου πρωταθλήματος Φόρμουλα 1, αλλά συμμετείχαν σε αυτό, κατά κύριο λόγο, μόνο αμερικανικές ομάδες. Κατά καιρούς, το ράλι έχει αλλάξει διάφορα ονόματα. Η Τζάνετ Γκάθρι έγινε η πρώτη γυναίκα που πήρε μέρος στον αγώνα Ιντιανάπολις 500 στις 29 Μαΐου 1977.[4]
