Zsófia Kovács (* 7. Februar 1988 in Gyöngyös) ist eine ungarische Triathletin. Sie ist U23-Vize-Weltmeisterin 2011, Gewinnerin des Ungarn-Cups 2010 (Triatlon Ranglista), Studenten-Weltmeisterin Triathlon (2014), dreifache Olympiastarterin (2012, 2016, 2020) und Mitglied der Nationalmannschaft.

Werdegang

Zsófia Kovács lebt in Mátrafüred und besuchte das Berze Nagy János Gimnázium in Gyöngyös.[1] Bereits als Schülerin wurde sie mehrfach für das nationale Sportförderprogramm Guter Schüler Guter Athlet ausgewählt.[2] Im Juli 2004 wurde sie in Lausanne Junioren-Vize-Europameisterin Triathlon.

In Ungarn gewann Kovács 2009 die Cup-Serie Triatlon Tour,[3] nachdem sie bereits 2008 Fünfte und von Zsófia Tóth geschlagen worden war.[4] Kovács tritt für den Triathlon-Club ihrer Heimatstadt, den Gyöngyösi Triatlon És Szi-Klub (Gyötri), an.

Olympische Sommerspiele 2012

Bei den Olympischen Spielen 2012 in London belegte sie nur den 51. Rang von 52 gewerteten Athletinnen.

Im April 2014 wurde sie in Brasilien Studenten-Weltmeisterin. 2015 wurde sie Vize-Staatsmeisterin auf der Triathlon Sprintdistanz. Sie wird trainiert von Geza Zakarias.

Im Mai 2016 wurde sie Dritte bei der Triathlon-Europameisterschaft auf der Olympischen Distanz.

Olympische Sommerspiele 2016

Zsófia Kovács qualifizierte sich für einen Startplatz bei den Olympischen Sommerspielen 2016 und belegte am 20. August in Rio de Janeiro als beste Ungarin den 24. Rang.

Zsófia Kovács startete bei den Olympischen Sommerspielen am 27. Juli 2021 in Tokio – zusammen mit Zsanett Bragmayer, Bence Bicsák und Tamás Tóth. Sie wurde überrundet.
