Metaxanthops acutus ist eine Art der Rundkrabben und einziger Vertreter der Gattung Metaxanthops.[1] Sie besiedelt die Gezeitenzone im westlichen Indopazifik.[2]

Merkmale

Der Carapax wird bis zu 7,2 mm lang und ist glatt. Die Regionen sind punktiert oder undeutlich, und die Ränder der Zähne des vorderen Seitenrands sind grobkörnig. Die Stirn ragt deutlich über den seitlichen Augenhöhlenwinkel hinaus nach vorn und weist einen mittigen Spalt auf. Die Augen reichen bei ausgefahrenen Augenstielen deutlich vor den Stirnrand. Der vordere Seitenrand ist mit vier Zähnen bewehrt, von denen die ersten drei groß und dreieckig und durch V-förmige Kerben getrennt sind. Der vierte Zahn ist klein und spitz. Die Schreitbeine sind schlank, der Merus des letzten Schreitbeins ist mehr als doppelt so lang wie breit. Der sechste Somit des Pleons ist bei Männchen etwa so lang wie breit und erscheint quadratisch.[2][2]
