Die Mestaruussarja 1971 war die 41. Spielzeit der finnische Fußballmeisterschaft seit deren Einführung im Jahre 1930. Sie wurde vom 25. April bis 26. September ausgespielt. Meister wurde Turku PS vor Helsingfors IFK.

Modus

Die Liga wurde für diese Saison auf 14 Mannschaften aufgestockt. Die drei letzten Vereine stiegen direkt ab. Der Viertletzte spielte mit den drei Gruppensiegern der II divisioona zwei Plätze für die Saison 1972 aus, in der wieder zwölf Teams spielten.
