Killas
Killas (altgriechisch Κίλλας Kíllas) ist in der griechischen Mythologie der Wagenlenker des Pelops.
Laut Pausanias war der Name des Wagenlenkers einer troizenischen Tradition folgend Sphairos, in Olympia aber wurde er Killas genannt.[1] Auf dem Weg von Lykien zum Wagenrennen zwischen Pelops und Oinomaos auf der Peloponnes stürzt Killas bei Lesbos ins Meer und ertrinkt. Ihm zu Ehren errichtet Pelops in der Troas ein Grabmal, darüber einen Tempel des Apollon Killaios und gründet eine Stadt, die er nach seinem Wagenlenker Killa nennt. Aus Dankbarkeit soll Killas dem Pelops im Wagenrennen zum Sieg verholfen haben.[2] Im Ostgiebel des olympischen Zeustempels wurde Killas dargestellt.
Laut Demetrios von Skepsis befanden sich Grab und Tempel an der Küste Mysiens bei der Stadt Chryse und Killas soll gar Herrscher der Landschaft gewesen sein.[3]
