Der Glentoran Football Club, auch bekannt als Glentoran Belfast, ist ein nordirischer Fußballverein in Belfast. Aktuell spielt der Verein in der NIFL Premiership. Die Clubfarben sind grün-rot-schwarz.

Geschichte

Der Verein wurde 1882 gegründet. Der Glentoran FC ist einer der erfolgreichsten Vereine Nordirlands. Erstmals gewann der Verein 1894 die Meisterschaft. Der Verein wurde insgesamt 23-mal Meister, 23-mal Pokalsieger und siebenmal Ligapokalsieger.[1]

Jugendakademie in Ghana

Der Verein unterhält mit der in Sunyani beheimateten Glentoran Football Academy eine Wohltätigkeitsorganisation, die gleichzeitig als internationales Farmteam agiert.[2] Die Akademie wurde 2007 mit Hilfe des FIFA Spieleragenten Christopher Antoh Forsythe und der in Belfast ansässigen Ashfield Boys High School gegründet und soll dazu dienen, Jugendliche von der Straße wegzuholen.[3]
