Domecia ist eine Gattung der Krabben aus der Familie Domeciidae mit vier rezenten Arten.[1] Sie besiedeln die Gezeitenzone und den Schelf in Tiefen zwischen 0 und 146 m im tropischen Atlantik, im Indopazifik und im tropischen Ostpazifik. Sie sind Symbionten bei Steinkorallen, vor allem der Gattungen Pocillopora und Acropora, kommen aber auch freilebend auf abgestorbenen Korallen und Steinen vor.[2]

Merkmale

Der Carapax ist bis zu 4 mm lang. Der Stirnrand und der vordere Seitenrand sind mit zahlreichen spitzen Zähnen bewehrt. Der Merus des dritten Maxillipeden ist etwa doppelt so breit wie lang. Die Scherenbeine sind asymmetrisch, ihr Propodus ist mit Dornen besetzt.[2]
