Die Cryptocneminae sind eine Unterfamilie der Krabben innerhalb der Kugelkrabben (Leucosiidae). Erkennungsmerkmale sind, dass die seitlichen Ränder und der hintere Rand des Carapax erweitert sind und eine dünne scharfe Kante bilden. Dadurch entsteht ein über die Schreitbeine und das Pleon überhängender Saum. Die Rückenseite erscheint poliert und ist bis auf einige niedrige Körnchen und die schrägen Epibranchialleisten nicht ornamentiert. Das Epistom reicht über den vorderen Rand der Einstromkanäle der Kiemenkammer hinaus.[1]
