Conchoecetes ist eine Gattung ursprünglicher Krabben (Brachyura) innerhalb der Familie der Schwammkrabben (Dromiidae) mit neun Arten.[1] Sie bewohnen die tiefere Gezeitenzone und den Schelf in Tiefen zwischen 2 und 150 m im gemäßigten Nordwestpazifik sowie im westlichen und zentralen Indopazifik. Sie tarnen sich mit Muscheln.[2]
Merkmale
Conchoecetes wird bis zu 42 mm lang. Der Carapax ist etwa fünfeckig, flach und gekörnt bis nahezu glatt. Der mittige Lappen des Rostrums ist kürzer als die beiden dreieckigen Seitenlappen. Der vordere Seitenrand ist mit Zähnen bewaffnet. Der Finger des vierten Schreitbeins ist groß und krallenartig und opponiert mit der Erweiterung des Propodus. Der Uropode ist als rückenseitige Platte sichtbar. Die Scherenbeine haben einen Epipodit.[2]
