Calocarcinus ist eine Gattung der Krabben aus der Familie Calocarcinidae mit drei Arten.[1] Sie besiedeln den Schelf und den Kontinentalhang in Tiefen zwischen 183 und 1098 m im westlichen und zentralen Indopazifik sowie in der gemäßigten Klimazone Australasiens. Sie sind Symbionten bei Tiefseekorallen.[2]

Merkmale

Der Carapax ist etwa achteckig, der Stirnrand ist gerade. Der vordere Seitenrand ist mit zwei Zähnen bewehrt, die vor und hinter dem parallel verlaufenden Seitenrand in der Carapaxmitte liegen. Die Scherenbeine sind asymmetrisch, der Vorderrand ihres Merus ist zahnlos. Die Finger der Schreitbeine haben ein spitzes Ende und keine Querreihe aus dicken Borsten.[2]
