Alexander von Eye (* 16. September 1949 in Leipzig) ist ein deutsch-US-amerikanischer Psychologe, der zuletzt als Professor für Methodenlehre an der Universität Wien lehrte und forschte.

Seinen B.A. (Vordiplom) in Psychologie, Humangenetik und Philosophie hat er 1971 an der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München abgelegt. 1974 folgte das Diplom an der Universität Trier. Von 1974 bis 1977 hatte er hier eine Assistentenstelle inne. 1976 folgte die Promotion in den Fächern Psychologie, Pädagogik und Psychiatrie in Trier. Von 1977 bis 1981 war er Assistenzprofessor an der Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg. 1981 erfolgte die Habilitation wieder an der Universität Trier. Zwischen 1981 und 1986 hatte er eine Forschungsstelle am Max-Planck-Institut für Bildungsforschung in Berlin inne. 1985 war er Honorarprofessor für angewandte Methodik in Psychologie an der Technischen Universität Berlin. Danach war er bis 1986 zuerst Gastprofessor und dann bis 1993 Professor an der Pennsylvania State University im College of Human Development and Center for the Study of Child and Adolescent Development. Ab 1993 arbeitete er als Professor für Psychologie am Institute for Public Policy and Social Research der Michigan State University. Seit 2012 ist er Professor für Methoden der Psychologie an der Abteilung für Psychologische Grundlagenforschung und Forschungsmethoden der Universität Wien. Nach seiner Emeritierung lebt er in Montpellier.

Er hat sich schwerpunktmäßig mit Statistik und Methodenlehre beschäftigt, dabei hat er Methoden zur Analyse von kategorialen und Längsschnittdaten in der Psychologie entwickelt. Speziell die Konfigurationsfrequenzanalyse hat er auf Anstoß durch Gustav A. Lienert weiterentwickelt. Diese Methoden hat er während seiner Zeit an der Pennsylvania State University und der Michigan State University auf Fragen der Familienforschung und auf die Erforschung sozialer Themen angewandt.
