Dějiny

Škola byla založena roku 1843 skladatelem a klavíristou, kapelníkem Gewandhausu, Felixem Mendelssohnem-Bartholdy (1809–1847) jako Conservatorium der Musik (hudební konservatoř) a je tak nejstarší vysokou hudební školou v Německu. Škola se rychle zařadila mezi nejrenomovanější v Evropě.[1]
