Istrinsky District (Russian: И́стринский райо́н) is an administrative^[1] and municipal^[2] district (raion), one of the thirty-six in Moscow Oblast, Russia. It is located in the western central part of the oblast. The area of the district is 1,268.97 square kilometers (489.95 sq mi).^[2] Its administrative center is the town of Istra.^[1] Population: 119,641 (2010 Census);^[3] 115,753 (2002 Census);^[6] 90,572 (1989 Soviet census).^[7] The population of Istra accounts for 29.3% of the district's total population.^[3]

Geography

The Istra River flows through the district.

Alyokhnovo is one of the rural communities in the district.
