The following is a list of events of the year 2025 in the United States , as well as predicted and scheduled events that have not yet occurred.

Elections will be held on November 4 of this year. The off-year election includes gubernatorial and state legislative elections in a few states, as well as numerous mayoral races, and a variety of other local offices on the ballot.

Scheduled events
January 20: Donald Trump will become the 47th U.S. president.
January 20: JD Vance will become the 50th U.S. vice president.
January 3 – The 119th Congress begins session. Republicans will hold a 53-47 majority in the Senate , and a 220-215 majority in the House .[ 4]
January 6 – The United States Congress will convene in a joint session for the Electoral College vote count , the final procedure of the 2024 presidential election .[ 5]
January 9 – The state funeral of Jimmy Carter is scheduled to take place at the Washington National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. [ 6]
January 18 – Ahead of Donald Trump 's second term, the Women's March is expected to hold protests at Columbus Circle in Washington, D.C. . Additionally the People's March on Washington is expected to be held as well.[ 7]
January 19 – The proposed ban on video sharing service TikTok is set to take effect.[ 8]

February 2 – The 67th Annual Grammy Awards will be held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles , honoring the best in music from September 2023 to August 2024.[ 14]
February 8 – The renaming of the Boy Scouts of America organization to Scouting America officially takes effect.[ 15]
February 9 – Super Bowl LIX is scheduled to be played at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans .[ 16]
March 2 – The 97th Academy Awards will be held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles , honoring the best in films released in 2024.[ 17]
March 31 – 2025 MLB season : The Athletics will begin their temporary relocation to West Sacramento, California , as part of their ongoing relocation to Las Vegas .[ 18]
June 15–July 13 – The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup will take place in the United States.
May 5 – Sean "Diddy" Combs is scheduled to be put on trial for sex trafficking crimes.[ 19]
October 14 – Microsoft has set the retirement (end-of-life) date for its Windows 10 operating system on this date.[ 20] [ 21] Users will either have to install Windows 11 or use an alternative operating system from Microsoft to receive security updates. However, the third parties programs and LTSC will continue to support it.
November 4 – Elections for the governorships of New Jersey and Virginia will take place.[ 22] [ 23]
