Season summary
Hamburg were rooted to the bottom of the table for the first half of the season, but the appointment of Huub Stevens revitalised the team and they rose to a final 7th-placed finish.

^Berisha was born in Pristina, Yugoslavia (now Kosovo, but part of Serbia during the 2006–07 season), but also qualified to represent Albania internationally and made his international debut for Albania in October 2006. After Kosovo was recognised by UEFA and FIFA in 2016, Berisha changed his international allegiance to Kosovo and would make his international debut for Kosovo in March 2017.
