Tragedi Lampung

Tragedi Lampung terjadi pada tanggal 28 September 1999, yang bermula ketika mahasiswa dari Universitas Lampung berjalan menuju Universitas Bandar Lampung untuk bergabung dengan rekan-rekan mereka melakukan aksi menentang RUU Penanggulangan Keadaan Bahaya (PKB) serta unjuk rasa solidaritas bagi rekan mereka yang meninggal di Semanggi Jakarta empat hari sebelumnya.

Setelah bergabung, mereka melakukan unjuk rasa dan berjalan menuju Makorem 043/Garuda Hitam. Akan tetapi, ketika melewati markas Koramil Kedaton dekat Universitas Bandar Lampung, keadaan menjadi tidak terkendali karena Komandan Koramil menolak kehendak mahasiswa untuk menandatangi penolakan diberlakukannya UU PKB, dan terjadi saling lempar batu serta tembakan. Mahasiswa terpencar dan menyelamatkan diri ke dalam Universitas Bandar Lampung. Sesaat setelah itulah diketahui bahwa butiran peluru telah mengambil nyawa Muhammad Yusuf Rizal.

Hari itu tanggal 28 September 1999 Muhammad Yusuf Rizal, mahasiswa jurusan FISIP Universitas Lampung angkatan 1997, meninggal dunia dengan luka tembak di dadanya tembus hingga ke belakang dan juga sebutir peluru menembus lehernya. Ia tertembak di depan markas Koramil Kedaton, Lampung. Puluhan mahasiswa lainnya terluka sehingga harus dirawat di rumah sakit. Beberapa hari kemudian Saidatul Fitriah, Mahasiswa Universitas Lampung yang juga menjadi korban kekerasan aparat, akhirnya meninggal dunia.

Banyaknya korban disebabkan kampus Universitas Bandar Lampung dimasuki oleh aparat keamanan baik yang berseragam maupun yang tidak berseragam. Aparat juga melakukan pengejaran dan pemukulan terhadap mahasiswa, perusakan di dalam kampus yaitu berupa gedung, kendaraan roda dua maupun empat.
