Merpati jambul (Lopholaimus antarcticus) adalah merpati asli Australia bagian timur. IUCN mengklasifikasikannya sebagai spesies berisiko rendah.^[1]

Taksonomi

Naturalis Inggris George Shaw menggambarkan merpati jambul sebagai Columba antarctica pada tahun 1793.^[2] Merpati jambul adalah takson saudara dari garis keturunan yang memunculkan merpati gunung (Gymnophaps) di Papua Nugini, nenek moyang keduanya menyimpang dari garis keturunan yang memunculkan merpati kererū dan Chatham.^[3] "Merpati Jambul" telah ditetapkan sebagai nama umum resmi oleh Persatuan Ahli Ornitologi Internasional (IOC);^[4] John Gould mencatat pada tahun 1848 bahwa nama ini diberikan kepada burung tersebut oleh penjajah di New South Wales.^[5] Ia juga dikenal dengan nama "merpati kawanan".^[6]
