Hypsibarbus wetmorei, atau ikan Kerai adalah spesies ikan cyprinid . Tanaman ini berasal dari sungai Mae Klong, Mekong, Chao Phraya, Tapi dan Pahang di Daratan Asia Tenggara .[2][3] Meskipun umum ditemukan di wilayah setempat dan dianggap sebagai spesies yang Paling Tidak Diperhatikan, spesies ini terancam (setidaknya di sebagian wilayah jelajahnya) akibat penangkapan ikan yang berlebihan, bendungan, dan polusi.[2] Biasanya mencapai 25 cm (10 in) panjangnya,[3] tetapi telah tercatat hingga sekitar 70 cm (2 ft 4 in) .[4]

Ikan ini sangat populer sebagai ikan konsumsi termasuk ikan hias, terutama dalam bentuk yang lebih pendek dari biasanya yang disebut "balon" atau "Pla san" ( bahasa Thai: ปลาสั้น </link> ; menyala: ikan pendek atau ikan kerdil [5] ). Spesies ini di Thailand dalam bahasa daerah bernama Pla Tapak (ปลาตะพาก), Pla Tapak Lueng (ปลาตะพากเหลือง), Pla Tapak Thong (ปลาตะพาก ทอง) atau Pla Krapak (ปลากระพาก) menurut puisi Raja Rama V "Perjalanan ke Sai Yok " (ประพาสไทรโยค) dll.[6]

Inseminasi buatan pertama kali dilakukan oleh Pusat Penelitian dan Pengembangan Perikanan Darat Kamphaengpet sejak tahun 2010 dan mengumpulkan hasil panen ke sumber air alami untuk konservasi.[7]
