Heksateukh

Heksateukh (bahasa Yunani: ἑξάτευχος:, heksa: "enam", teukh: "wadah"; bahasa Inggris: Hexateuch; "enam gulungan") adalah nama sebutan kumpulan enam kitab pertama dalam Alkitab Ibrani dan bagian Perjanjian Lama di Alkitab Kristen.[1]

Keenam kitab itu secara berurutan adalah:

  1. Kitab Kejadian
  2. Kitab Keluaran
  3. Kitab Imamat
  4. Kitab Bilangan
  5. Kitab Ulangan
  6. Kitab Yosua

Lima kitab yang pertama secara umum disebut Taurat atau "Pentateukh".

Heksateukh dengan tambahan Kitab Hakim-hakim disebut Heptateukh dan jika ditambah lagi dengan Kitab Rut disebut Oktateukh, tetapi ini hanya menurut urutan Alkitab Kristen bagian Perjanjian Lama, karena di Alkitab Ibrani, kitab Rut tidak mengikuti kitab Hakim-hakim.

Polemik

Sejumlah pakar "hipotesis dokumen" berpendapat bahwa Kitab Yosua mewakili sumber "Yahwist" utara (dari tahun ~ 950 SM), yang dipisah dari dokumen JE oleh golongan "Deuteronomist" (dari tahun ~650-621 SM) dan dimasukkan ke dalam sejarah "Deuteronomik" bersama kitab-kitab Hakim-hakim, Samuel dan Raja-raja. Alasannya adalah anggapan adanya satu tema yang melandasi semua kitab-kitab ini, misalnya kesinambungan kepemimpinan dari Musa kepada Yosua, yang dilanjutkan dengan pemenuhan janji Allah untuk membawa bangsa Israel memasuki Tanah Perjanjian, sebagai komplemen dari tema Pentateukh yang diakhiri dengan bangsa Israel berada di perbatasan Tanah Perjanjian dan siap untuk masuk.

Teori ini tidak mempunyai bukti kuat dan juga tidak diterima kebanyakan pakar yang lebih condong mengikuti tradisi rabbinik yang lebih tua, yaitu bahwa Pentateukh itu sendiri adalah suatu kumpulan yang sudah lengkap, sebagaimana diyakini oleh penyunting Jewish Encyclopedia di awal abad ke-20. Taurat atau Pentateukh selalu hanya terdiri dari lima kitab dalam Alkitab Ibrani. Jadi tidak ada bukti sejarah sama sekali bahwa pernah ada kumpulan kitab Torah dan kitab Yosua yang disebut "heksateukh".

Bukti-bukti yang menyangkal pernah adanya kombinasi Taurat dan kitab Yosua:[2]

  1. Golongan Saduki hanya menerima 5 kitab Taurat (Pentateukh) yang dipercayai mempunyai otoritas sebagai Kitab Suci.
  2. Orang Samaria hanya menerima 5 kitab Taurat sebagai Kitab Suci.
  3. Orang Yahudi Ortodoks memegang Alkitab Ibrani sebagai kitab suci, tetapi mereka membagi dalam 3 bagian: Taurat (5 kitab), Kitab Nabi-nabi (Nevi'im, dan Kitab tulisan (Ketuvim). Kitab Yosua tidak pernah digolongkan bersama-sama kitab Taurat.
