HMBS Lawrence Major


HMBS Lawrence Major adalah kapal pendukung yang dioperasikan oleh Angkatan Pertahanan Kerajaan Bahama.[1][2] Dia dibangun di Belanda oleh The Damen Group, dengan adaptasi dari desain Damen Stan Lander 5612.

Kapal ini dinamai sesuai dengan nama komandan pertama Angkatan Pertahanan Kerajaan Bahama, Lawrence Whitfield Major.[1]

Kapal ini memiliki panjang Templat:Konversi, dan lebar Templat:Konversi.[1][2] Ia memiliki jalur depan bergaya kapal pendarat, yang memungkinkan kendaraan dinaikkan dan diturunkan, untuk pengiriman amfibi. Kapal ini dilengkapi dengan crane seberat 25 ton. Kapal ini juga dirancang untuk membawa modul misi seukuran kontainer pengiriman standar dengan aman, sehingga memungkinkan berbagai misi.[3] Modul-modul tersebut termasuk dapur darurat, dan modul rumah sakit, untuk menanggapi bencana. Kapal Stan Lander 5612 dapat mengangkut hingga 42 kontainer, di ruang geladak yang seharusnya dapat digunakan untuk mengangkut kendaraan.[4] Damen merancang kelas ini untuk 16 orang kru.[5]

Kapal ini dikirim ke Bahama pada tanggal 18 Maret 2016, bersama dengan tiga kapal patroli yang lebih kecil.[1]

Sejarah operasional

Pada tanggal 22 April 2016 Lawrence Major mengangkut mobil pemadam kebakaran ke Crooked Island.[6][7][8]
