Bituminus

Bituminus adalah jenis batu bara dengan nilai kalor tertinggi. Penggunaanya adalah sebagai bahan bakar pada pembangkit listrik tenaga uap. Bituminus menjadi massa yang kohesif saat dipanaskan. Warna bituminus adalah hitam mengkilap. Sifat lain dari bituminus adalah mudah melakukan penggumpalan dan aglomerasi. Pada industri pembuatan besi dan baja, bituminus digunakan sebagai bahan baku pembuatan kokas.[1] Pembuatan bituminus berasal dari reaksi pengendapan dalam lingkungan rawa eutropik. Lahan basah mendukung pembentukan bituminus. Ini diketahui dari keberadaan endapan batu lempung dan napal di dalam bituminus. Penemuan bituminus banyak diperoleh di lingkungan tumbuhan yang subur dan dikelilingi oleh beragam spesies.[2]
