Dalam kimia, istilah asil atau gugus asil adalah sebuah gugus fungsional yang didapat dari sebuah asam dengan membuang gugus hidroksil.
Biasanya, gugus asil diturunkan dari asam karboksilat dari bentuk RCOOH. Gugus asil juga dapat diturunkan dari tipe asam lainnya seperti asam sulfonat, asam fosfonat dan lainnya. Asil bisa digunakan untuk asilasi Friedel-Crafts.
Asil-CoA merupakan turunan dari metabolisme asam lemak.
Nama gugus asil diturunkan dari asamnya dengan menggantikan akhiran asam -at menjadi -il seperti contoh pada tabel. Perlu diperhatikan bahwa metil, etil, propil, butil, bukanlah -il untuk asil, melainkan gugus alkil yang diturunkan dari alkana.
Dalam gugus aksilosi, gugus asil diikat pada oksigen: R-C=O-O-R' di mana R-C=O adalah gugus asil.
