尼爾·艾爾烏·佩爾特（英語：Neil Ellwood Peart，1952年9月12日—2020年1月7日），OC，生於加拿大安大略省咸美頓[3]，加拿大勳章获得者，為前衛搖滾樂團匆促樂團的鼓手以及主要的詞曲創作人。綽號「教授」的尼爾長久以來都是年輕鼓手的學習目標，他在專輯當中的精彩表現獲頒過無數獎項(如Modern Drummer雜誌)，並被視為當代最偉大的搖滾樂鼓手之一。他所採用的鼓具組是出了名的詳盡，從小型鼓到令人吃驚的大鼓都包含其中。他的打鼓風格是吸納眾家精華而來的：他自己提到誰合唱團(The Who)的凱思·穆恩與爵士鼓手Buddy Rich ，樂迷們每每在演唱會最期待的便是他精彩的個人獨奏。他的名字的正確發音是'Peert'，或像是"Pier" 加上一個 "t"的子音在後頭，然而多數人則是誤發為pert。

本身便是一位狂熱的閱讀份子，佩爾特的歌詞中充滿文學作品的影子。像是受莎士比亞影響的("Limelight")、受尼采啟發的("Cygnus X-1 Book II: Hemispheres")、帕索斯(John dos Passos)影響的("The Camera Eye", "The Big Money")以及受托爾金啟發的("Rivendell", "The Necromancer")。更常被提到的的則是Ayn Rand'的小說Anthem啟發了同名歌曲(Anthem，收錄於Fly by Night專輯中)的創作與日後2112的誕生。「不過，當時的媒體讓我吃足了苦頭，他們認為我的歌詞受Ayn Rand影響帶有法西斯的教條味，但老實說，我自己完全不曉得自己居然是一個右翼份子。」

"各位不需要講 Ayn Rand 的作品對我有太多影響，我從來不是誰的追隨者。"

在另一次的訪談中，佩爾特則是認為自己是位自由主義者。

在1996年的5月9日，佩爾特與他的伙伴蓋迪·李與艾力克斯·萊夫森一同獲頒加拿大勳章，這也是該榮譽第一次頒發給搖滾樂手。

他的獨生女，Selena Peart Taylor在1997年的車禍中喪生，而他的妻子Jaqueline Taylor在十個月後因癌症過世。佩爾特的第二任妻子則是攝影師Carrie Nuttall。

佩爾特同時寫過三本旅遊文學書，如"The Masked Rider"記錄了1988年他在喀麥隆的機車之旅，"Ghost Rider"則是在遭遇不幸後的一趟自我治療，騎乘摩托車由加拿大經過美國終至墨西哥。而"Traveling Music: The Soundtrack to My Life and Times"於2004年六月出版。

佩爾特性喜隱遁，與樂迷們不曾有過較緊密的關係。因為他覺得自己的事業與舞台生活與台下的私人生活必須是分隔開的。在2002年的"Vapor Trails"的巡迴演唱開始之前，佩爾特與其他兩位成員決定，他將不參加各地的記者會與媒體的專訪。這是由於佩爾特很不習慣這種與人接觸的方式，而且勢必會面對到他所不願再提起的傷心事，這是完全沒有必要的。

佩爾特於2020年1月7日因膠質母細胞瘤於加州聖塔莫尼卡去世。
