2008年夏季奧林匹克運動會

2008年夏季奥林匹克运动会于2008年8月8日于中华人民共和国北京市举行。来自204个国家奥委会的11,028名运动员在37座比赛场馆中参加了28个大项302个小项的比赛[1]。在北京市内的比赛场馆中，有11座改扩建场馆，12座新建场馆和8座临时场馆。此外，有6座北京以外的比赛场馆也举行了比赛，其中3座是新建场馆[2]。

北京是在2001年7月13日取得该届奥运会的举办权的[3]。随后，场馆的建设于2003年12月开始，最先建设的是国家体育场、国家游泳中心、北京射击馆和老山自行车馆[4]。到2005年11月，在建场馆已全部开工[2]。所有奥运场馆的建设成本约不超过130亿元[5]。

很多场馆位于奥林匹克公园。座位数最多的是国家体育场“鸟巢”，拥有91,000个座位（包含80,000个固定座位，11,000个奥运会比赛时的临时座位）[6]；最少的则是老山山地自行车场，只有2,000个座位。
