Lại (chữ Hán: 賴) là một họ của người châu Á. Họ này có mặt ở Việt Nam và Trung Quốc và Đầu Đen (chữ Hán: 赖, Bính âm: Lai). Về mức độ phổ biến họ này xếp thứ 90 ở Trung Quốc theo thống kê năm 2006.

Nguồn gốc

Họ Lại ở Việt Nam, cháu con cả nước đều coi Quang Lãng (nay là xã Hà Dương huyện Hà Trung tỉnh Thanh Hoá) là nơi đất tổ thiêng liêng, có mộ thiên táng của đức Triệu tổ Lại Thế Tiên cạnh chùa Thiên Vương và từ đường thờ Người mà dân địa phương thường gọi là "đền thờ họ Lại". Cuốn phả xưa nhất của họ Lại còn giữ được ở đây, mang tên Tống Sơn Quang Lãng Lại gia phả ký viết bằng chữ nho vào tháng 6 năm Cảnh Hưng thứ nhất (1740), ghi từ quan Huyện thừa Lại Thế Tương, hậu duệ của Lại Thế Tiên thái thú quận Giao Chỉ đời Đông Hán. Điều đó đã được truyền tụng cùng với câu "Nam bang nhất Lại" (nước Nam chỉ có một họ Lại) từ lâu trong họ. Vì thế, từ mấy thế kỷ nay, chí ít từ đầu đời Tự Đức triều Nguyễn, nhà thờ họ Lại ở Quang Lãng vẫn tổ chức xuân tế hàng năm vào ngày Rằm tháng Giêng để tưởng nhớ và phụng thờ vị tổ đầu tiên của dòng họ Lại tại Việt Nam là thái thú Lại Tiên, mà ở đây gọi là"viễn tổ".

Viễn tổ LẠI TIÊN

Lại Tiên người nam Kinh Châu đời Hán, (nay là Quảng Tây, Trung Quốc hiện nay), làm thái thú quận Giao Chỉ đời Đông Hán, vào cuối thế kỉ thứ II sau công nguyên, trước Sĩ Nhiếp và sau Lý Tiến không xa, mà Lại Linh thời Lý; Lại Ích Quy thời Trần; Lại Thế Tiên, Lại Thế Tương, Lại Đôn Tín, Lại Thế Vinh, Lại Thúc Mậu thời Lê và các tiến sĩ Lại Đức Du, Lại Gia Phúc, Lại Kim Bảng, Lại Mẫn, Lại Đăng Tiến, Lại Duy Chí...sau này, đều là hậu duệ của Người. Khi thôi quan, Người ở lại Giao Chỉ không về nữa và trở thành thủy tổ duy nhất của dòng họ Lại ở Việt Nam.

Phả Họ Lại khẳng định và chứng minh tính thống nhất về nguồn gốc của họ Lại ở Việt Nam ứng với lời lưu truyền "Nam bang nhất Lại", bắt đầu từ Viễn tổ Lại Tiên thời kì đầu Công lịch, đến các con cháu xa đời của Người sau này mà tuyệt đại đa số đều bắt nguồn từ miền Đất Tổ Quang Lãng xã Hà Dương huyện Hà Trung tỉnh Thanh Hoá.

Họ Lại Việt Nam

Phả Họ Lại đã xác định thế thứ của các vị thế tổ đến đời thứ 9 tính từ đức Thủy tổ Lại Thế Tiên, thân sinh đức Triệu tổ Lại Thế Tương có mộ thiên táng ở thôn Đông Quang Lãng Thanh Hoá. Tuyệt đại đa số các chi họ Lại ở Việt Nam chắp nối được cho đến nay, có thể tìm ra mối quan hệ với các vị Thế tổ đời thứ 9, thứ 10 ngành A và ngành B. Nhiều con cháu họ Lại tan tác sau việc Đạt Nghĩa công Trịnh Cối và Phúc Quận công Lại Thế Mĩ chạy sang phía Mạc, đến nay vẫn chưa chắp nối lại được hết.

Phả họ Lại 1990 đã tập hợp được hơn 200 chi họ thuộc 20 tỉnh thành trong cả nước, trong đó còn nhiều chi chưa được nối gốc về nguồn, còn chờ nghiên cứu chắp nối sau. Nhưng nói chung, mỗi người họ Lại ở Việt Nam đều có thể tìm thấy vị trí của mình: nếu không phải con cháu các vị Thế tổ đời thứ 9, thứ 10 của họ Lại gốc Quang Lãng thì cũng là cháu xa đời khác của Viễn tổ Lai Xuân Vũ – hậu duệ của các nhân vật lịch sử như Lại Linh, Lại Ích Quy, Lại Duy Chí, Lại Kim Bảng, Lại Mẫn… trừ một số rất ít mới xuất hiện sau này.
