Індукована топологія — природний спосіб задання топології на підмножині топологічного простору.

Визначення

Нехай дано топологічний простір $(X,\;{\mathcal {T}})$ , де $X$ — довільна множина, а ${\mathcal {T}}$ — визначена на $X$ топологія. Нехай також $Y\subset X$ . Визначимо ${\mathcal {T}}_{Y}$ — сім'ю підмножин $Y$ таким чином:

{\mathcal {T}}_{Y}=\{U\cap Y\mid U\in {\mathcal {T}}\}.

Нескладно перевірити, що ${\mathcal {T}}_{Y}$ є топологією на $Y$ . Ця топологія називається індукованою топологією ${\mathcal {T}}$ . Топологічний простір $(Y,\;{\mathcal {T}}_{Y})$ називається підпростором $(X,\;{\mathcal {T}})$ .

Цю конструкцію можна узагальнити. Нехай $X$ — довільна множина, $(Y,\;{\mathcal {T}}_{Y})$ — топологічний простір і $f:X\to Y$ — довільне відображення $X$ в $Y$ . Тоді як ${\mathcal {T}}_{X}$ візьмемо всілякі множині виду $f^{-1}$ ( $V$ ), де $V$ — відкриті множини в $Y$ . Топологія ${\mathcal {T}}_{X}$ називається індукованою відображенням $f$ топологією. Відображення $f$ в цій топології автоматично стає неперервним. Це найслабша (вона містить найменше множин) з усіх можливих топологій на множині $X$ , для яких відображення $f$ буде неперервним.

Приклад

Нехай дана дійсна пряма $\mathbb {R}$ зі стандартною топологією. Тоді топологія, індукована останньою на множині всіх натуральних чисел $\mathbb {N} \subset \mathbb {R}$ , є дискретною.

Властивості

Нехай $Y$ є підпростором в $X$ і $i:Y\to X$ позначає відображення вкладення. Тоді для довільного топологічного простору $Z$ відображення $f:Z\to Y$ є неперервним тоді і тільки тоді коли композиція відображень $i\circ f$ є неперервною.

Цю властивість можна використати для визначення індукованої топології на $Y$ . Надалі $S$ позначаиме підпростір простору $X$ .

Якщо $f:X\to Y$ є неперервним то його обмеження на $S$ теж є неперервним.
Якщо $f:X\to Y$ є неперервним то $f:X\to f(X)$ is continuous.
Якщо $A$ є підпростором в $S$ то $A$ є також підпростором в $X$ з тією ж топологією. Іншими словами топологія на $A$ індуковаа топологією на $S$ є тою ж, що і топологія індукована з $X$ .
Якщо $B$ є базисом топології $X$ то $B_{S}=\{U\cap S:U\in B\}$ є базисом топології $S$ .
Топологія індукована обмеженням метрики на підмножину метричного простору збігається з індукованою топологією.
