Notre-Dame de Sur Manastırı

Notre-Dame de Sur Manastırı ya da İngilizce etkisiyle yazılan kitaplardaki ismiyle Notre Dame de Tyre Manastırı, Orta Çağ'da Lefkoşa'da Benediktin tarikatına mensup rahibelerin kullandığı manastır. Tarihsel olarak Notre-Dame de Tortose manastırıyla karıştırılmaktadır ve çeşitli turistik ve tarihî yayınlarda günümüzdeki Ermeni Kilisesi'nin Notre-Dame de Sur olduğu iddia edilse de, burası aslında Notre-Dame de Tortose'dur. Manastırın konumu üzerine yazılan tarihsel kayıtları inceleyen Chris Schabel, Notre-Dame de Sur'ün günümüzdeki Sarayönü Camii'nin yerinde yer alan ve Osmanlı döneminde camiye çevrilip 1900'de yıkılan yapı olduğu sonucuna varmıştır.[1]

Notre-Dame de Sur kilisesi aslen Kudüs'te, Kutsal Kabir Kilisesi'nin karşısında kuruldu. Kudüs'ün Müslümanlarca ele geçirilmesinin ardından Sur şehrine taşındı ve Notre-Dame de Sur adını aldı. Sonrasında hâlihazırda bir bina ve bahçesinin olduğu Kıbrıs'ın başkenti Lefkoşa'ya taşındı. Kıbrıs'taki kraliyet çevreleri ve asilzadeler tarafından tercih edilen bir manastır oldu, Kral III. Hugh'ün kardeşi Marguerite ömrünün son yıllarında buraya rahibe olarak girdi.[2]
