NGC 1837, Yeni Genel Katalog'da yer alan bir açık yıldız kümesidir. Gökyüzünde Masa takımyıldızı yönünde bulunur. OCL tipi bir açık yıldız kümesidir. İngiliz astronom John Herschel tarafından 1834 yılında 47,5 cm (18,7 inç) çaplı aynalı tip bir teleskopla keşfedilmiştir.[4]

NGC 1837, Samanyolu galaksisi içinde bulunan bir açık yıldız kümesidir. Bulutsu NGC 1834, NGC 1835 ve NGC 1837'den oluşan bir çevre içinde bulunur. Bu gök cisimleri, Tarantula Bulutsusu'nun bir parçasıdır ve Büyük Magellan Bulutu olarak adlandırılan yakın bir cüce galaksi ile etkileşim halindedir.

NGC 1837, yaklaşık 30.000 ışık yılı uzaklıkta bulunan Dorado takımyıldızı yönünde bulunur. Kümenin yaşı, yaklaşık 14 milyon yıl olarak tahmin edilir. Küme içinde, ana sıra üzerinde bulunan genç ve parlak yıldızlar bulunur. Bu yıldızlar, yoğun gaz ve toz bulutlarından oluşan bir bulutsu içinde oluşmuştur.

NGC 1837, özellikle amatör gözlemcileri için iyi bir gözlem nesnesidir. Bu kümenin en parlak yıldızı, çıplak gözle bile görülebilen bir 4,6 kadirlik yıldızdır. Gökbilimciler, NGC 1837 ve diğer Samanyolu galaksisi içindeki açık yıldız kümelerini inceleyerek, evrenin oluşumu ve gelişimi hakkında daha fazla bilgi edinebilmektedirler.
