Melikşah, Trabzon ilinin Tonya ilçesine bağlı bir mahalledir.

Tarihçe

Mahallenin eski adı Melikşe'dir.[4] Köy nüfusu Çepnilerden oluşmaktadır.[5] 1834 yılında Melikşe adıyla köy olarak görülen yerleşimde 85 erkek nüfus kaydedilmiştir. 19. yüzyıl sonlarına doğru yerleşimde medrese inşa edildiği görülmektedir.[6]

Türkiye Cumhuriyetinin kurulmasından sonra da Melikşe[7] adıyla Tonya'ya bağlı görülen yerleşimin adı 1959 yılında, "yabancı kökten geldiği ve iltibasa yol açtığı" gerekçesiyle 7267 sayılı kanunla Melikşah olarak değiştirilmiş ve 1960 yılı nüfus sayımından itibaren yeni adıyla kayıtlarda yer almaya başlamıştır.[8]

Trabzon iline 65 km, Tonya ilçesine 5 km uzaklıktadır.[3]
