Leyla Berkes Onat, (30 Eylül 1942 İzmir) Türk ressam, çevirmen ve yazardır.

Yaşamı

1961 yılında TED Ankara Koleji, sonrasında ise 1965'te Ankara Üniversitesi İngiliz Dili ve Edebiyatı Bölümü'nden mezun oldu. 1965-1968 yılları arasında Varlık Dergisi'nde şiirleri yayımlandı. Paris'te Güzel Sanatlar Akademisi, Ecole De Louvre, Academie Julien ve New York'ta Art Students League'de resim eğitimi aldı.[1] İlk kişisel resim sergisini 1978 yılında açtı. Yurtiçi ve yurtdışında birçok karma sergiye katıldı. Yirmiye yakın kişisel resim sergisi açtı.[2] 1965 - 1968 yılları arasında TÜBİTAK’ta çevirmen ve sekreter, 1981 ile 1985 yılları arasında ise Ankara'da resim öğretmeni olarak çalıştı. Aynı dönemde Sanatyapım Galerisi'ni yönetti.

Sanat üzerine yazıları ve çevirileri çeşitli dergilerde yayımlandı. Mitolojik Öyküler adlı kendi derlemesini resimledi. İlk romanı "Sorumlu Bulutlar" 1992 yılında basıldı. Çevirisini yaptığı "Kadın, Cinsellik, Bağımlılık" adlı çeviri yapıt ise 1993 yılında basıldı. 1996 yılında, “İnsanlık Tarihine ve Bilime Yön Verenler” adlı dizi kitabın 22 kitabını Türkçeye çevirdi.

Devlet Tiyatroları Opera ve Balesi Çalışanları Vakfı'nın (TOBAV) çocuk oyunları yarışmasında mansiyon, Ankara Büyükşehir Belediyesi’nin “Ankara’yı Seviyorum” senaryo yarışmasında ödül aldı. Kültür Bakanlığı Sinopsis Ödülü (1993), Senaryo Öyküsü ödülünü (1995), TOBAV'ın 1996'da açtığı yarışmada “Gerçekle Oyun” adlı sahne oyunu ödül aldı. TRT için de oyun yazdı ve bazı yabancı oyunları çevirdi. Son romanı "Elma Dağı’na Kar Yağmış" 2005 yılında yayınlandı.

Leyla Onat; Edebiyatçılar Derneği, Dil Derneği ve Çağdaş Yaşamı Destekleme üyesidir. Ayrıca "Birleşmiş Ressamlar ve Heykeltıraşlar Derneği" yönetim kurulu üyesidir.[3]
