Phalacrocorax carbo veya Karabatak[2][3][4], Phalacrocorax cinsine bağlı bir kuş türüdür.[5]

Özellikler

Yaklaşık 1,5 kg (3 lb 5 oz)[6] ile 5,3 kg (11 lb 11 oz) ağırlık aralığında değişkenlik gösterir.[7] Erkekler genel olarak dişilerden daha ağır ve iridir. Almanya'da bulunan 36 erkek ve 17 dişi Phalacrocorax carbo sinensis ortalaması 1,94 kg (4 lb 4 oz) ile en hafif ağırlıkta olarak kaydedilirken,[8] Kanada'daki Prens Edward Adası'nda bulunan 11 erkeğin ortalamasıyla 3,68 kg (8 lb 2 oz) ve 11 dişinin ortalamasıyla 2,94 kg (6 lb 8 oz) ağırlığındaki Phalacrocorax carbo carbo en ağırları olarak kaydedilmiştir.[9][10] Ortalama 70-102 cm (28-40 in) uzunluğunda ve 121-160 cm (48-63 in) kanat aralığındadır.[10][11]
