Jean Pierre Flourens

Marie Jean Pierre Flourens (13 Nisan 1794 - 6 Aralık 1867), deneysel beyin biliminin kurucusu ve anestezide öncü olan Fransız bir fizyolog.

Mart 1847'de Flourens, Bilimler Akademisi'nin dikkatini kloroformun hayvanlar üzerindeki anestezik etkisine çekti.

Darwinizm karşıtlığı

Flourens, Darwinizm'e muhalifti ve doğal seçilim fikrini eleştirdi.

Kendisi bir yaratılışçıydı ve türlerin sabitliğini savundu.[1][2] Flourens, Charles Darwin'i doğayı kişileştirdiği için eleştirdi. Doğanın seçmemesi nedeniyle doğal seçilimin çelişkili bir terim olduğunu savundu.[3] Flourens'in kitabı hiçbir zaman İngilizceye çevrilmedi ve hiçbir eleştirmen onun iddialarını ayrıntılı olarak çürütmeye çalışmadı.
