Courtenaylı Agnes (y. 1136 - y. 1184), oğlu IV. Baudouin'in saltanatı sırasında Kudüs Krallığı'nda önemli bir etkiye sahip olan soyluydu. Kraliçe olmamasına rağmen, Kraliçe Melisende'den sonra krallık tarihindeki en güçlü kadın olarak tanımlanmıştır.

Hayatı

Agnes, soylu bir aileye mensup olmasına rağmen Kudüs kralı I. Amalrik ile evlenmeden önce yoksul ve duldu.[1][2][3] Bu evlilikten Sibylla ve IV. Baudouin doğdu.[4] I. Amalrik, 1163'te beklenmedik bir şekilde tahta çıktığında Kudüs Yüksek Mahkemesi, Agnes'i kraliçe olarak kabul etmedi ve Amalrik'e bu evliliği bitirmesini beyan ettiler. Agnes, sırasıyla İbelinli Hugh ve Renaud Granier ile evlendi.[5]

I. Amalrik'in 1174'te ölmesinin ardından, genç yaştaki oğulları IV. Baudouin, tahta çıkınca Agnes'in nüfuzu hızla arttı. Agnes, yeni kralın danışmanı oldu.[6] Baudouin, cüzzam hastalığına yakalandığı için evlenemiyordu ve giderek güçten düşüyordu. Baudouin'e, Sibylla'yı Lüzinyanlı Guy ile evlendirmesini tavsiye etti, böylece Guy tahtın varisi oldu.[7][8] Baudouin, Guy'u verasetten men edince, Agnes oğlunu ve soyluları Sibylla'nın ilk eşinden olan oğlu V. Baudouin'i varisi yapması konusunda ikna etti. Cüzzamlı kral 1185 yılının başlarında öldü; Agnes'te muhtemelen oğlundan kısa bir süre önce öldü.[9] Ölümünden sonra damadı Guy, Selahaddin'e karşı yaptığı Hıttin Muharebesi'nde mağlup olunca 1187'de Kudüs, Eyyubiler tarafından fethedildi.[10]
