Boru, boru şeklindeki çeşitli nefesli çalgılara verilen addır.[1] Kelime olarak boru (İngilizce: pipe) kuş cıvıltısına benzeyen yansımadan gelmektedir. Kaval, bazı kaynaklarda çobanın borusu (İngilizce: shepherd's pipe) olarak adlandırılmaktadır.[2][3][4][5]
