AdStar (Advanced Storage and Retrieval (Türkçe: Gelişmiş Depolama ve Kurtarma) kısaltması), IBM'e bağlı olan ve firmanın tüm depolama ürünlerinden sorumlu olan bir alt kuruluştu.
1992'de IBM 8 ülkedeki toplam 11 tane olan depolama birimini bu kuruluş altında topladı.[1] Kurulduğu zaman AdStar dünyanın en büyük veri depolama şirketi oldu. Şirket, 6.11 milyar dolar hasılat elde ediyordu ve bunun 500 milyonunu müşterilere satılan ürünler (OÜÜ satışı) oluşturuyordu ve vergilerin ardından 440 milyon gelir elde ediyordu.[2]
Firmanın daha fazla kar elde etmesi için IBM firmayı bağımsızlaştırdı ve başına IBM çalışanı olmayan Ed Zschau'yu getirdi.[2]
Zschau AdStar'ı 1995'te bıraktı ve görevini bir IBM çalışanı olan Jim Vanderslice'a devretti.[3] Ardından AdStar parçalandı ve IBM'e Depolama Sistemleri Birimi olarak geri entegre edildi.
