İsa, Hristiyanlık inancına göre 1 yılında yani miladın başlangıcında doğmuştur. Birçok teolog İsa'nın doğumunun MÖ 6 ile 4 yılları arasında gerçekleştiğini öne sürmektedir.[1][2] Kesin olarak İsa'nın MÖ 4 - MÖ 6 yılları arasında doğduğuna inanılmaktadır, bu tezin doğruluğu ise İsa'nın doğduğu dönemde Kral Hirodes'in tahtta olmasıdır. Katolikler İsa'nın doğum gününün 25 Aralık, Ortodokslar ise 6 Ocak olduğuna inanmaktadırlar.

Bilimsel kanıtlara dayalı teoriler

Cambridge Üniversitesi'nden Profesör Colin Humphreys, Quarterly Journal of the Royal Astronomical Society dergisinde İsa'nın MÖ 5 yılının Nisan ayında veya yakın bir tarihte doğduğunu savundu.[3]

Noel kutlamalarının Aralık ayında yapılmasına rağmen, Matta ve Luka İncilinde İsa'nın doğduğu ay veya tarihten bahsetmez.
