Tektonika (geológia)

Tektonika je vedná disciplína, súčasť geológie, ktorá sa zaoberá štúdiom stavby, deformácie a vývojom zemskej kôry.[1] Často je synonymne stotožňovaná so štruktúrnou geológiou, na rozdiel od nej sa však sústredí na štúdium procesov väčšieho rozsahu, napr. procesom platňovej tektoniky.[2][1]

Tektonika sa ďalej člení na niekoľko odborov. Odvetvie zaoberajúce sa základnými otázkami stavby litosféry a astenosféry je geotektonika. Termín geotektonika je bežne považovaný za synonymum tektoniky.[1] Štruktúrne prvky hornín mikroskopickej veľkosti skúma petrotektonika. Prejavmi deformácie hornín sa zaoberá štruktúrna geológia.

Vrásová tektonika

Zaoberá sa deformáciami hornín, pri ktorých nedochádza k prerušeniu kontinuity horniny, je to teda duktilná deformácia. Niekedy tiež označovaná ako alpinotypná tektonika. Vrásnenie najtypickejším prejavom skrátenia hornín zemskej kôry. Je pre ňu príznačný vznik vrás – synklinál (korýt) a antiklinál (sediel).

Zlomová tektonika

Zaoberá sa deformáciami hornín, pri ktorých sa narušuje kontinuita kôry krehkou deformáciou, niekedy tiež označovaná ako germanotypná tektonika. Zlomová tektonika je príznačná pre rôzne tektonické prostredia súvisiace s rozpínaním aj s stláčaním zemskej kôry. Medzi najtypickejšie zlomové štruktúry patria: prešmyk a pokles - vertikálne posuny na zlomoch, ktoré môžu spôsobiť vznik priekopovej prepadliny alebo grábenu, teda poklesnutej časti kôry alebo naopak hrastov - vyzdvihnutých blokov.

Väčšinu geologických fenoménov súvisiacich z pohybmi zemskej kôry vysvetľuje teória platňovej tektoniky. Vyvinula sa z dvoch pozorovaných fenoménov: pohybu kontinentov (kontinenty sú tie časti zemskej kôry, ktoré sú stále a nezanikajú) a rozširovania oceánskeho dna (oceány sú tými časťami zemskej kôry, ktoré sú nestále a v priebehu geologického vývoja vznikajú aj zanikajú).

Tri hlavné pohyby

  • divergentný (rozbiehavý) pohyb – vznik novej oceánskej kôry
  • konvergentný (zbiehavý) pohyb
  • translačný pohyb – posun dvoch litosferických platní vedľa seba
