Pridružený štát

Pridružený štát (angl. associated state, špa. estado asociado) je de facto takmer nezávislý štát, ktorý je v dobrovoľnom zväzku s väčším štátom (väčšinou bývalá koloniálna krajina), ktorá tak zodpovedá za časť suverénnych právomocí pridruženého štátu (spravidla za zahraničnú politiku a obranu).

Cookove ostrovy	Nový Zéland od roku 1965	Cookove ostrovy sú samostatná krajina, voľne pridružená k Novému Zélandu. Sú pozorovateľom OSN. Nový Zéland zodpovedá (s ich dovolením) za ich zahraničnú politiku a obranu.
Marshallove ostrovy	USA od roku 1986	Dohoda o voľnom pridružení (Compact of Free Association). Marshallove ostrovy sú nezávislá krajina, člen OSN. USA zodpovedá za ich obranu.
Mikronézia	USA od roku 1986	Dohoda o voľnom pridružení (Compact of Free Association). Federatívne štáty Mikronézie je nezávislá krajina, člen OSN. USA zodpovedá za ich obranu.
Niue	Nový Zéland od roku 1974	Niue je samostatná krajina, voľne pridružená k Novému Zélandu. Sú pozorovateľom OSN. Nový Zéland zodpovedá (s ich dovolením) za ich zahraničnú politiku a obranu.
Palau	USA od roku 1994	Dohoda o voľnom pridružení (Compact of Free Association). Palau je člen OSN. USA zodpovedá za ich zahraničnú politiku a obranu, má právo na vojenské základne na ich území.

Pridružené závislé územia

Portoriko	USA od roku 1952	Pridružený štát USA ("Commonwealth"). Obyvatelia sú americkí občania, ale nevolia do kongresu ani prezidenta. USA zodpovedá za ich zahraničnú politiku a obranu. Obyvatelia v minulých referendách zamietli možnosť, aby sa Portoriko stalo 51. štátom USA, ale aj úplnú nezávislosť.
Severné Mariány	USA od roku 1978	Pridružený štát USA ("Commonwealth"). Obyvatelia sú americkí občania, ale nevolia do kongresu ani prezidenta. USA zodpovedá za ich zahraničnú politiku a obranu.
Nová Kaledónia	Francúzsko od roku 1999	Správna korporácia sui generis. Dvoma zmluvami (1988 a 1998) získala značnú vlastnú autonómiu s možnosťou vyhlásenia nezávislosti uzákonenú francúzskym Národným zhromaždením. Okolo roku 2014 sa má konať referendum o nezávislosti.

Andorra	Francúzsko Španielsko od roku 1278	Francúzsko a Španielsko zodpovedajú za obranu andorrského územia, francúzsky prezident je symbolická hlava štátu.
Lichtenštajnsko	Švajčiarsko od roku 1923	Švajčiarsko sa stará o obranu Lichtenštajnska a väčšinu zahraničných vzťahov a zastúpení.
Monako	Francúzsko od roku 1814	Monako je de facto protektorátom Francúzska, ktoré ho zastupuje v zahraničí, stará sa o jeho obranu. Na oplátku je monacká vláda zaviazaná konať so záujmami Francúzska.
Nauru	Austrália od roku 1968	Austrália zodpovedá za obranu Nauru, ktoré nemá armádu.
San Maríno	Taliansko od roku 1999	Taliansko zodpovedá za obranu San Marína.
Vatikán	Taliansko od roku 1929	Zvláštny vzťah, pozri Lateránske zmluvy.
