Yutaka Yamada (やまだ 豊, Yamada Yutaka; born March 14, 1989) is a Japanese composer, arranger, and orchestrator based in Los Angeles. He is known for creating musical scores for a wide variety of Japanese anime, television dramas, and films.
Yamada is best known internationally for composing the music for popular anime series, including Tokyo Ghoul (2014) and its sequels.[1] The original soundtrack was highly popular, and his theme song "Glassy Sky" was later sampled by the rapper Eminem in his 2018 track "Good Guy".[2] He also known for compose song for Vinland Saga (2019, 2023),[3] Great Pretender (2020).[4] He has also scored music for numerous live-action projects, often collaborating with director Shinsuke Sato, which includes the Netflix series Alice in Borderland (2020–present),[5][6] the Kingdom film series (2019–present),[7][8] and other major titles like Bleach (2018) and Golden Kamuy (2024).[9]
Yamada moved to Los Angeles in 2017 to pursue further international work.[10] He graduated from the Senzoku Gakuen College of Music in Japan.[11]
