Reed bed

A reedbed in summer

A reedbed is a natural place found in wet areas like floodplains, and estuaries. Young reeds grow in water or wet ground. As reedbeds get older, they make the ground drier. They also create a layer of dead plants. This layer rises above the water, making space for bigger plants like shrubs and trees to grow.[1]

People make reedbeds to clean sewage, these are called constructed wetlands.[2]
