David Miquel Mendes da Silva Gonçalves (nl;[1] born 4 August 1982) is a Dutch former professional footballer of Cape-Verdian ancestry. He plays as defender or defensive midfielder. He is known for his dribbling and his tackling.

He started his career with Sparta Rotterdam. He played with Rotterdam for five years. In 2003 he was on loan to Ajax Amsterdam for part of the season. His next team was NAC Breda. He played with them for two years. From 2006 to 2010 he played for AZ Alkmaar. Under coach Louis van Gaal he won the Dutch Championship in the 2008–09 season and the UEFA Champions League. He scored against Arsenal London in the 93rd minute on 20th October 2009. In 2010 he went to FC Red Bull Salzburg in the Austrian Bundesliga.
